Ramallah - The Teacher Creativity Center- in cooperation with the Ministry of Education- concluded a training course under the title of "The Socio-emotional Learning Theory”. The course lasted for two days, noting that the course targeted 20 teachers from eleven schools in the area classified C in the West Bank. The aim of the training was to complete the capacity building of participating teachers in the topic of the socio-emotional learning theory.
On the first day, the meeting focused on the skills of socio- emotional learning theory that are used with children to overcome socio-emotional learning challenges, such as unemployment, family violence, separation of parents, and gender-based violence. On the second day, the meeting focused on the mechanisms applied with children to assess the socio-emotional learning challenges they face. Teachers also shared practical models in regards to the theory; the focus was on developing teachers' capabilities in training methods, which they will use during their training meetings at the school level.
It is worth noting that this meeting came within the socio-emotional learning program operated by the Teacher Creativity Center and funded by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The program aims to contribute to quality education outcomes –especially in terms of socio-emotional learning skills and a number of associated values, principles and practices including freedoms of thought & expression, social justice, Gender Equality, mutual respect, responsible decision-making and peaceful conflict-resolution- in the Area C of WB, East Jerusalem and Gaza Strip.
