The Ministry of Education (MoE) and TCC held three arbitration sessions in Anabta (Toulkarem), Ramallah, and Bethlehem, in presence of participating parents’councils, MoE and TCC representatives. Three out of numerous projects that were implemented last year by parents’ councils of schools in the south, north and central directorates of the West Bank were nominated. The participants (parents’ councils’ representatives) presented their projects using PowerPoint slide shows, documents and photos. The arbitration committees consisted of Mohammad Sabbah, Maha Aman-Allah, Safaa Barghouthi, and Moayed Afana from the Ministry of Education, in addition to Fadel Suleiman from TCC.
The parents’ projects included enhancing school facilities, increasing the academic levels and improving relationships between students, between students and teachers, to mention a few. Other projects focused on enhancing communication between parents and schools and increasing the parents’ awareness on the importance of community participation.
The media gave special attention to the projects’ activities and the arbitration sessions. Achieving this goal is considered one of the project’s successes. Additionally it indicates that the public is willing to participate and be involved in public affairs and educational issues.
It is worth mentioning, that TCC who implements the project (funded by Welfare Foundation) in cooperation with MoE will reward the three winning parents’ councils with a financial contribution.
