Creative Media Coverage Advocating Civic Education

The Teacher Creativity Center (TCC) in cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Education and funded by the Welfare Association completed two 4 training sessions held in Ramallah during the months of January and February 2009, targeting 60 parents council members from 20 parents councils distributed over the West Bank
The Teacher Creativity Center completed a 4 day training session in March 2009 targeting 26 media personnel from the West Bank. This training comes as part of the 2 year project titled “Civic Education in Palestinian Schools:
Promoting Active Responsible Youth Citizenship” promoting civic education in Palestine and funded by the Foundation For the Future.
The training objective revolves on the employment of creative writings by media personnel via reportage, journalistic stories and profiling on the importance of civic education for the Palestinian society in general and specifically addressing civic education in schools, its quality and need for development.
The training focused on the concepts of civic education, its status and challenges in Palestinian schools and the role of the media in acting as an advocacy tool addressing these issues through their work as it impacts all sectors of society related to citizenship, rights and different civic issues and relationships
