TCC held a 4 day training session on November 4-7th in Ramallah
The Teacher Creativity Center held a 4 day training session on November 4-7th in Ramallah with the overall objective of enhancing the role of parents’ councils in promoting a culture of human rights and gender equity in the school environment.
The training consisted of ice breaking exercises, training on concepts of human rights, children’s rights declaration, gender and CIDAW and action learning methodology. 25 members of 25 parents’ council members from the districts of Hebron, Jenin and Toulkarem were trained by members of the TCC staff and president of the board of directors.
The training was unique in its ice breaking exercises as each activity had a defined purpose and the impact was magnificent in bringing the participants together and creating a very special bond among them. The entire training was participatory and each day was recapped in the morning by a group of participants that brought laughter and showed creativity.
The 4 day training build the capacity of parents’ councils in addressing school issues related to human rights and gender as well as enhance the role of mothers councils in schools. As the training came to a conclusion, the participants with the field coordinators organized a party where several concept learned were integrated into the festivities making everything about this training memorable.
The parents’ council trainees will train their council members and as councils initiate action based projects addressing a problem present in their schools in order to research it, study related public policies, interview responsible officials, suggest alternative solutions as well as network with the community in an effort to mobilize as many sectors of society in the councils work. Their work will be monitored by the project coordinator to provide any support as well as conduct evaluation
