Khan Younis – On Sunday 15th Sept. 2024, TCC in partnership with SYFs concluded the project "Rebuilding Hope – Educational and Psychological Preparedness" in the Attar area of Mawasi Khan Younis, in southern Gaza Strip. The closing ceremony was widely attended by parents, students, and local community figures, all of whom expressed their happiness and gratitude for this distinctive initiative.
In his speech during the ceremony, Dr. Mahmoud Albaraghiti, Psychosocial Support Programs Coordinator at TCC/Gaza Strip, stated that the project targeted more than 100 students, aged between 9 and 14 years. The activities were carried out under the supervision of specialized teachers and a team of psychologists to support the children psychologically and educationally.
Mr. Silah Samara, the SEL Program Coordinator at TCC, emphasized the importance of this project, which was implemented at a critical time in collaboration with SYFs. He explained that the project aimed to embrace children whose academic lives were disrupted by the war, depriving them of continuing their education, and strived to compensate for learning loss while addressing the psychological damage caused by the war, with the support of a specialized team of teachers and psychologists.
Upon concluding the ceremony, Dr. Albaraghiti thanked the institutions supporting the initiative, including Save Youth Future Society (SYFS), Education Above All Foundation, and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). He also thanked the team of volunteers, the caregivers, and the civil society figures who contributed to the success of the event.
The ceremony featured various artistic and educational performances in both Arabic and English, presented by the participating students, who excelled in their presentations. The attendees expressed their hope for the continuation of such initiatives, which provide vital psychological and educational support for children in Gaza.
