As part of the project “Safe Access to Inclusive Education, Dignity, and Protection Services for Children in Crisis,” implemented by the Teacher Creativity Center in partnership with World Vision and funded by the European Union, Musa Bin Nusayr Basic School in Hebron has officially launched its “Towards Social and Emotional Learning” initiative. This effort aims to integrate core social and emotional learning (SEL) skills into classroom practices and the broader school environment.
Teacher Mahmoud Hamdan led an engaging session with parents to introduce the initiative, outlining its objectives and the importance of nurturing students’ emotional and social development. The discussion emphasized creating a learning environment that respects students' emotions, fosters self-awareness, encourages positive relationships, and strengthens decision-making and coping skills within the school setting.
Parents expressed strong appreciation for the initiative, recognizing its value in supporting their children's overall well-being—not only academically, but also emotionally and psychologically. They also highlighted the importance of family-school collaboration in promoting students’ holistic development.
This initiative is one of a series being implemented this year in 61 public schools across the West Bank. It reflects a broader vision to transform schools into safe, inclusive, and empowering spaces that support learning and growth, particularly in the face of ongoing crises and pressures affecting children in Palestine.
