Gaza – Teacher Creativity Center (TCC), in partnership with Ajyal UK, has launched the project “Supporting the Education of Displaced Children through Community-Led Initiatives” to ensure the continued and effective learning of children affected by displacement in the Gaza Strip.
The project based on the establishment of flexible and safe learning spaces, led by qualified volunteer teachers, aiming to create an enabling educational environment for displaced children in or near their areas of displacement. The project specifically addresses learning loss by focusing on the restoration of foundational skills in three core subjects: Arabic, mathematics, and English. In addition, it seeks to strengthen children’s sense of belonging and connection to their communities during this time of crisis.
The project prioritizes areas that have received limited support during the ongoing conflict and locations hosting large numbers of displaced families. It supports 17 community-led educational initiatives across North Gaza, the Middle Area, and Khan Younis, involving 193 teachers and volunteers, and reaching 4,724 children.
Support provided under the project includes school kits for students, teaching kits for educators, modest financial contributions to sustain local initiatives, and the provision of essential learning materials such as whiteboards, pens, and notebooks. Recognizing the emergency nature of the context, the project ensures the portability and adaptability of all educational resources.
In this context, the Teacher Creativity Center (TCC) emphasizes that supporting grassroots educational initiatives is not only a humanitarian response but also a call to action for broader civil society engagement in the continuity of learning for displaced children. Strengthening community participation remains central to ensuring the sustainability and long-term educational and humanitarian impact of these effort.
